How to keep your head when the world is on fire

How to keep your head when the world is on fire

Mindfulness and universal kindness have never been needed more. You can learn to develop these qualities through meditation. Join Sthiradeva, a member of the Triratna Buddhist community with over 30 years of meditation experience, to learn how to train your mind for living in today's world. For newcomers as well as those with some experience of meditation.

Spread over six Tuesdays, this course will involve real-time instruction in two core meditation practices (mindfulness of breathing and the development of universal loving-kindness), opportunities to ask questions, and to discuss themes arising from your home practice.

Tuesdays 7:30-9:00pm BST on Zoom (link will be sent via email)

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I access the course?

The course will be run via Zoom and you will receive a link in your booking confirmation email.

What time shall I login to the sessions?

The leader of the class will arrive at around 7.20pm; from then on feel free to join. For the first session we'd recommend joining soon after 7.20pm to sort out any technical issues and get comfortable.

What if I'm late?

When you join the session your microphone will automatically be muted although your camera will be visible, so provided that you are already sitting and still you should not disturb the class.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

You might want to bring something on which to take notes, although there will be handouts.

How shall I prepare for the course?

Choose (or create) a space in your home which is uncluttered, where you can sit comfortably on an upright chair or meditation cushion, and where you can be quiet and undisturbed. Turn off notifications on your devices. Ideally, give yourself a few minutes as a buffer between activities before the start of the session.
