From Darkness to Light

From Darkness to Light

Friday 26 February 2021 – Sunday 28 February 2021

What exactly is the 'light' of Enlightenment? And how does the Buddhist tradition teach the path 'from Darkness to Light'?

This is a perfect immersive follow-on for anyone who has attended the intro courses last autumn, as well as anyone familiar with Triratna meditation.

On this weekend retreat we'll be exploring the wisdom teachings of the Buddha through meditation, talks, discussion groups, and ritual. We'll run the retreat over Zoom so that everyone can be involved in it, regardless of the lockdown situation!

We plan for a generous mix of time online and offline - see the programme for more info.

We welcome donations for the event and suggest something in the range of £20-50 for the weekend.

If you have further questions, please get in touch with us at oxfordtriratna@gmail.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I access this retreat?

You will receive the login details in your confirmation email when you book (please check your spam folder or contact us at oxfordtriratna@gmail.com if you can't find the email).

How can I make the most of this retreat at home?

Ideally, set up a space where you can be quiet, comfortable, and undisturbed.

If possible, keep your chores to a minimum and give plenty of space around the sessions.

How much of this retreat do I need to attend?

We'd encourage you to attend as much of the retreat as you can (and time zones permit) - but we recognise that sometimes other commitments will conflict with doing a retreat at home. If you'd like to talk more about how to best manage a home retreat, get in touch with us at oxfordtriratna@gmail.com

What kind of ritual is involved?

On each of the evenings we will do a simple Buddhist ritual as a traditional practice of engaging and enriching the imagination.

What kind of meditation will we do?

We'll mostly do the metta bhavana (cultivation of loving-kindness) and the mindfulness of breathing.

For the morning meditation you'll be able to choose between two options - either an unled meditation or a led meditation, both at the same link.
